Personal Shopping for Kate

My sister, Kate Karyus Quinn, has her first young adult book debuting in just weeks! This is super exciting for her (and for the whole family, really).  Her book comes out June 11th, and that means she is going to need clothes for all her promotional events!  We were happy to help.  We decided to go to the Galleria Mall, specifically starting at Lord and Taylor.  I pulled some dresses for Kate, and she dutifully tried them all on.  She did end up with two dresses from Lord and Taylor.  After that she bought a jacket, dress, and top at The Limited, and we finished the shopping trip with a pair of low pointy toe pumps from DSW.  Unfortunately, we only took pictures at Lord and Taylor...here they are!

Kate will be wearing one of these dresses to her book party launch on June 11th @ 7pm at B is for Books in Orchard Park.  Here is a link to her blog http://katekaryusquinn.blogspot.com/

Office to Evening Chic

As a woman, we often need to wear many hats during the course of the day. Mom, career woman, chef, maid. It's often hard to transform for happy hour or dinner after a busy day, especially if you're stuck in the office. AR Stylists has made the transformation from day to evening easy for you to achieve. By using a few tricks, you can look like you're cocktail ready after a few simple steps.

In our first example, we used one of this season's trends, geometric patterned pants. To make them appropriate for the office, we paired them with a collared patterned shirt in the same colors, a striped blazer, and ballet flats. To be cocktail chic, we ditched the collared shirt and blazer and opted for a plain black tank, belt, ankle booties, a small clutch, and chunkier jewelry. We would also recommend a pretty top knot for your hair and sweeping on a darker eye shadow and a shiny lip gloss.

Our next example uses a pretty A-line polka dot dress which is entirely office appropriate. To give it a little bit of an edge for the evening, we added a leather motorcycle jacket and clutch. This example shows that it doesn't take much effort to look fashion forward for the evening. We recommend packing the clutch in your daytime purse and using the clutch at night since you will only really be needing your license, credit card, and lip gloss. Keep everything else locked in your car.

In our last set, we bring you from the boardroom to the swanky bar. A simple pencil skirt and bustier top are all you really need. For during the day, wear a blazer over the top with a scarf. Later on, do your big reveal. Pair the outfit with chandelier earrings and a hot red clutch, and you're ready to go!

These are all ideas, and may not be ideal for everyone's body type. The idea is dressing for a quick change. We recommend classic items as your foundation, like a pencil skirt or a-line dress. Either add something to it or take it away, such as strappy heels or a jacket. Just don't overdo it. As always, AR Stylists is available to help, we're just a call away!
